I built Insight Assist because I lived the overwhelm — and I knew there had to be a better way to lead teams, support people, and still have something left for yourself.
I've been serving the optometry industry since 2019. Since acquiring our second practice in 2022, I've been navigating the realities of running a two-location business in a uniquely complex industry — all while wearing many hats as clinic director, retail manager, IT specialist, wife and mother.
Optometry lives at the intersection of healthcare and retail, and that balance creates a level of administrative burden and team stress that most people don't fully see from the outside.
After COVID, like many clinics, we experienced turnover, communication challenges, and the constant tension between serving our patients, supporting our team, and still having something left for ourselves.
That experience is what sparked my passion for team culture and communication.
In 2024, I started Insight Assist to help optometry clinics reduce administrative burden and create systems that support both the human experience and the patient experience.
When leaders are overwhelmed, it becomes harder to lead meaningful conversations. And when communication breaks down, everything else follows.
The Workplace Personality Workshop was created to remove the mental load of leading a team conversation that actually improves communication — so you can show up as the leader you want to be, without spending hours preparing.
In 2022, six months after acquiring our second clinic, I experienced a rare, life-threatening blood clot that required several days in the ICU.
During that time, my husband had to step back from patient care to support our family and help care for our three young children — while we were also running two clinics.
We eventually found answers through Mayo Clinic, where specialists explained that even raising my arm could put me at risk for clotting again. Over the next two years, I underwent multiple surgeries, extensive physical therapy, and had to completely rethink how I approached both work and life.
While I may appear healthy, the administrative burden of running a clinic — combined with physical limitations — became one of the biggest ongoing challenges.
It made me think: there has to be a better way.
During one of the hardest seasons of our lives, the Vision Source community showed up for us in a way I will never forget.
Their support helped us access the care we needed, and it's a big part of why I feel so strongly about supporting Vision Source doctors and teams today.
That experience changed how I think about leadership and work. It made me deeply focused on the things that actually move the needle:
Because we are all trying to do the same thing: serve our patients well, support our teams, and build a life that is sustainable.
Better conversations lead to better teams.
Better teams lead to better patient care.
